Terroir
Terroir: It comes from the French word Terre which means land. In the wine world, terroir includes all those factors that make a wine unique, simultaneously defining its place of origin.
SQDO / PDO Nemea

The appellation zone of Nemea is the largest PDO zone in Balkans, consisting of 17 villages in Corinthia and Argolis (10 villages belong to Nemea Municipality). The total area of the PDO zone covers about 4.500 hectares, with 2.500 hectares planted with Agiorgitiko.
Relief
The viticultural zone is surrounded by mountain masses, which end up in hills and smooth green slopes, creating corresponding valleys.
Altitude

Unofficially, the region that is located within the Municipality of Nemea is divided into 3 sub-zones based on altitude:
1. Lowland: (up to 350m) mainly includes the valleys / plains of the wider area.
2. Semi-mountainous: (from 350m to 600m) the slopes are considered the best wine region because offer exposure to the sun and drainage of the soils. It is the earliest in harvest of the 3 subzones.
3. Mountainous: (above 600m) mainly in the western highlands of Nemea and in the foothills of Kyllini (Zireia) it is the coldest and latest with harvest around in the middle of October. It is offered for fresh red and rosé wines.
Κλίμα
The climate is characterized as Mediterranean with an average temperature of 16-18oC and 450mm of rain per year.
The winters are quite cold with a high percentage of humidity, while the summers are hot and dry. Mildly cold winters with little but heavy snowfall and a lot of rains. Hot summers with sporadic heat waves and little rains.
The microclimate changes from valley to valley even at close distances.
Το έδαφος
Soils composition have an average of organic matter (carbon), of moderately alkaline pH (good concentration and absorption of nutrients) and composition of moderate to high calcium carbonate (limestone).
Main components of the soil are stone, clay, gravel and sand (the last three make up the alluvial deposits in the riverside plains).
Το Αγιωργίτικο
This composition allows the creation of moisture, which feeds the stems (vines).
Agiorgitiko is characterized as a “multi-dynamic” variety, as the grapes have the appropriate chemical composition to produce different types of wine, depending on its stage of maturity.
Agiorgitiko is an indigenous variety of centuries ago, highly adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region, giving excellent results.
